Standard CVTs are designed to deliver smooth performance and better fuel economy in everyday vehicles. Their lightweight design and seamless operation make them ideal for city driving and moderate use.
Why More Manufacturers Are Choosing CVT Technology
Where Standard CVTs May Fall Short
The Extroid CVT is a more advanced system designed to handle greater loads and deliver consistent performance in larger or more powerful vehicles. Its roller-based design makes it stronger and more durable than standard CVTs.
What to Consider Before Choosing an Extroid CVT
Performance and Strength in One Transmission
Yes — CVTs are reliable when serviced correctly using the right parts and fluid. Many leading vehicle manufacturers have already adopted CVT technology, and it is expected to become more common across a wide range of models, including 4WDs, within the next five years.
In the past, CVTs in imported vehicles from Japan received poor servicing, which led to early failures. A common issue was the use of incorrect oil, such as Dexron II or III, which damaged the internal belt and caused transmission failure. These issues were caused by a lack of understanding and access to correct parts — not by the CVT technology itself.
Today, with the right servicing, a CVT can deliver excellent performance, fuel savings, and long-term durability.
Based in Tīrau, South Waikato, our workshop is fully equipped with modern diagnostic tools and equipment specifically for CVT systems. Our technicians have the knowledge and experience to service, remove and repair all types of CVT transmissions accurately and efficiently.
We carry more than 300 different CVT units in stock and maintain a full inventory of parts for most makes and models.
